Announced in February 2021, two American movies re-imagining WIZARD OF OZ are in production, but I think I'll still prefer lesser-known TV series (not promoted as being inspired by OZ) for being more innovative, entertaining and insightful. After repeat viewings of NBC's 100 episode  PARIENTES A LA FUERZA (Family By Force) , streaming On Demand by Spectrum, Youtube, Telemundo, I realized 2021 story about Hollywood screenwriter--born in Mexico, strayed from his cultural roots & family values--creatively alludes in many ways to 1939 version of  WIZARD OF OZ .  Eyes opened, now seems obvious to me.  Shakespeare himself is well-known for finding ideas for his own plays in history and other stories, creatively transforming them like powerful sorceror Prospero of his final play  THE TEMPEST  with famous Ariel's song "a sea change, into something rich and strange". La Mentira as Enchanted Hacienda

  2023 novel   ENCHANTED HACIENDA   reminded me a bit of "Hacienda La Flor" in 1998 telenovela   LA MENTIRA  (currently streaming on demand on Vix) which I'm loving rewatching--again reminded of magic spells that befuddled deluded, suspicious mixed-up lovers in Shakespeare's   MID-SUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM .  Tho some topics in   LM  may sound heavy, it's very enjoyable to watch.  So many things are going on, can't really describe as fitting into narrow catagory:   LM   has got tender romance, humor, suspense, social criticism--plus lovely Mexican scenery! Brush up your Shakespeare:   LA MENTIRA  (The Lie) could be subtitled "Desdemona strikes back".  In LM , circumstantial "proofs" of a crime ("Dear John" letter, initial broach) are wrapped in handkerchief--reference to alleged proof of Desdemona's supposed infidelity in Shakespeare's play about lies,  OTHELLO .  Rev...

Around and around we go

Mandala Doily  in cheerful colors is reminiscent of wall-art behind stage in Tenoch's restaurant.  Free design  at  https://www.yarnspirations.com/aunt-lydias-mandala-doily/ALC0537-024810M.html  uses size 10 crochet thread  also known as bedspread cotton, so finished doily measures about 10 inches in diameter; working with such fine thread maybe challenging to beginner crocheters.  * Simpler pattern for round purse reminds me of Carmen's shoulder bag she used earlier in  PALF , pink or red depending on lighting and what's nearby.  Yarn used in project includes pretty fuschia pink;  both hot pink and circles have positive meanings in PALF's visual symbolism (opposed to her brown rectangular shoulder bag).   Not sure if "surface crochet" in contrasting thread is just a decorative detail that can be omitted, or done to make fabric more firm..  Perhaps making liner in different color could make bag both sturdy and possibly rev...
