Interview with Guy lasting about 17 minutes at start of Festival en Casa, October 15, 2021 https://peopleenespanol.com/noticias/eventos/festival-en-casa-2021/ Guy talks a little about difficulty at beginning of his career as actor trying to get work, falling between two worlds because he looked "gringo", although grew up in Latin culture. I hope future event may include Guy's writer wife talking about creating projects for Latinos like her husband which he mentions she is working on.

Theme of this episode may be: Hide and seek, spy games, SPYING. Misleading events, misinterpretations of what people see take place among number of characters. Dialogue that specifically refer this theme include: LARA chastising Tommy for sneaking around, following her and Alan: "Me andas espiando, verdad?" Several times--to different people--George whispers, not wanting to be overheard--and tries to listen in to others conversations.

LETI tells Paz her plan to disrupt George and Carmen's wedding night by using circumstantial evidence and false testimony to create scandal that never happened: "Lo importante no es lo que paso, pero lo que parece". But daughter Paz is no longer completely her Mom's unquestioning "Mini Me" and refuses to frame Pedro for something she herself instigated. (Cameras will record where Pedro went--but not why, and what he did there.

Tommy gets photos of darkened empty room that Alan's comments make appear ominous: "Everything is ready for second round. Ahora si pa' primera fila.)

CARMEN: No. No quiera dormir aqui contigo. GEORGE: Como que no? CARMEN: Pues no. GEORGE: Entonces que propones? O sea, aqui solo hay una cama, y pues, no modo que vayamos meter otra, porque todo el mundo se daria cuenta. CARMEN: Pues si me duermo aqui, duermes en al sofa. GEORGE: Ay, no, con mi espalda? Imposible. CARMEN: Ni te duele la espalda, exagerado. GEORGE: No, Carmen. O sea, yo tambien tengo que dormir bien, no? Y quien sabe cuanto dure esta situacion. O sea todo depende de Inmigracion. Aunque, se me ocurre algo.

CARMEN: Que? GEORGE: Puez tomamos las almohadas, armamos una barrera aqui entre la cama, y tu duermes de un lado y yo del otro, y asi evitamos la tentacion de tocarnos. Aunque, pues, yo no prometo nada. CARMEN: No quiero. GEORGE: Uff. Bueno, entonces, que tal si nos turnamos? Una noche tu duermes en la cama, y yo en el sillon, y la proxima noche cambiamos. CARMEN: Esta bien. Que me toca hoy? GEORGE (makes slight bow): Por ser dama, la cama primero. CARMEN: Okay. Bueno, pues, tu cuides tu espalda. (Carmen in form fitting jeans sits on edge of bed, raises leg to take off her boot, while George watches with rueful smile--can you read his mind? )

(Even before George mentioned pillows, I remembered old custom of "bundling" (see Wikipedia) I read about many decades ago in book on early American history. I suppose origin was lack of home central heating & couches to watch TV together on dates. Teens in PALF could benefit from getting to know each other by talking instead of starting with physical intimacy. With older characters who know what they're missing, it's so amusing to see them "suffer" with longing--but as it's a telenovela, you know those with top billing as romantic leads will eventually get their happily-ever-after. (Some of fans' favorite scenes in Cafe Con Aroma de Mujer & La Mentira are when lovers are separated in body, but together in heart and mind.)

That night at plaza by Tenoch's restaurant, cement wet and glistening (reflective?) Leti (still in those canary yellow ruffled pants) "auditions her actors" for pretended kidnapping. LETI: Y este, quien es? JUANCHO: Que chula te ves, mi Letis. LETI: Gracias. Quien es? JUANCHO: Como quien es? Ah, perdoname! Pues es me tatacho, mi mugre, mi compalle! AURELIO: Mucho gusto, Senora. Aurelio Ruiz. Para servirle a usted, a Dios y (he takes her hand in courtly manner, kisses it like an old fashioned gentleman.) JUANCHO: Oiga! LETI: Okay, ya ya ya. A ver, aqui estan los dos mil dolares. (slaps money down on table, unaware hidden man is watching.) LETI: Ey, quieto! Necesito que el sequestro que estamos dizque planeando sea super creible.

JUANCHO: Que si. Aqui tenemos ya todo bien practicado y bien arreglado. Es mas, hasta compremos un telefono de esos raritos y agarramos una casa asi bien lejos pa' que no haya senal. AURELIO: Usted no deje de perder cuidadito. LETI: Ok. Yo les voy a avisar cuando la boda vaya empezando, asi tu llames y: "Estoy en peligro". OK? Me entendiste? JUANCHO: Que si, que si, que si. Ya tenemos todo ensayado, no me crees? Arrancate compadre, pa'que vea tantito. AURELIO (assuming rough voice): A ver, vieja, le mato al Juancho. JUANCHO: (pretending terror): "Ya, por favor, ya!" LETI: Shhh! Callate, ya. No me tienen que actuar aqui como lo van a hacer. Lo unico que yo necesito es que Carmen salga corriendo de su propia boda, ok? AURELIO: 'Ta bueno (notice man with boy on his shoulders walking with woman several times by conspirators in this scene.)

CLIO: Ay, Andy, ya te dije que yo no voy a permitir que mi imagen se ensucia con la voz de Carmen. ANDY: Clio, ella solo necesita trabajar. Mira, yo te aseguro que puedes brillar como siempre, sin tener que opacar a los demas. Miralo de esta manera. Una vez que se haga la pelicula y sea un exito, tu fama se va a triplicar. Imaginate los fans felices de ver a Clio Bonet en esta nueva faceta. Tu sabes todos los premios a les que te van a nominar? CLIO: Yo no quiero estar nominada a ningun premio. (Andy looks perplexed) CLIO: Yo quiero ganar todos los premios! (she pushes him down on couch.)

MARIA the maid brings package delivered for Lara: Abrelo! Apurese. Ah, que regalazo! (It's a new phone from Alan to replace one confiscated by Margarita so they can stay in touch). Quien se lo mando? Que dice la nota? LARA suggests busybody buzz off: Que se le perdio, Maria? Que se le perdio? (sort of like saying challengingly "what you looking at?") MARIA: "Asi le sirve el diablo, a quien bien le serve". Lara makes Maria "pinky promise" (crossed or interlocked little fingers) not to tell her mother about gift.

When girl is texting Alan in Cruz great room, Tommy watches her, but Paz tells him to leave her alone. In foreground can be seen very tasteful wedding decorations: white cake of graduated size stacked circular tiers, spiraled ascendingly with real roses in pink, cream, crimson, on top of platform made of slice of tree trunk; beverage glasses decorated with flowers held by wood clips.

In his room getting ready for wedding, GEORGE in medium blue suit, but no tie so charm with his childhood name he always wears around his neck shows. Tenoch wears blue guayabera shirt. TENOCH: Fijate que la jefecita que en paz descanse, le hubiera dado mucho gusto vernos asi, sin estarnos peleando. GEORGE: Pues, muchas gracias por aceptar ser mi testigo de bodas, eh? TENOCH: Es lo menos que podia hacer. GEORGE: Y muchas gracias por ayudar a Carmen, eh? Apoyandola, porque todo esto la he afectado mucho. TENOCH: Ah, pues, eso si, pero, pues ya se subio al tren. Mejor que fluya, que fluya. GEORGE: Y que fluya sin alcohol, no? TENOCH: No, no. Te lo prometo, te lo juro, te lo juro. Es que esta novia es otro codigo postal, hermanito. Asi no me voy a tener que pasar el trago amargo ahi emborrachandome, pos tal vez.

GEORGE: Eso espero. No quisiera sorpresitas tuyas como antes. TENOCH: No no no. Te lo juro, de verdad. Ya no voy a tomar nunca, never ever. Es en serio, neta. Mira, tengo un muy buen motivo. GEORGE: Pues que buen, hermano, te felicito. TENOCH: Gracias. GEORGE: Y ojala no pierdes el impulso. TENOCH: Hombre, que voy a andar perdiendo el impulso. Hablando de impulsos, estas listo pa' el brinco? GEORGE (whispering):
Tengo el estomago revuelto. TENOCH: No estas dudando, verdad? GEORGE: No, no, jamas. Casarme con Carmen es lo que he querido desde que la conoci. Solo que, pues nunca me imagine que fuera asi.

TENOCH: Paciencia, hermanito, paciencia, porque en una de esas todo se arregla luego luego, hum? GEORGE: Pues, no se. Carmen es una mujer orgullosa, no se echa para atras cuando toma una decision. Bueno, pero yo tampoco me voy a rendir. TENOCH: Eso. GEORGE: Si me tengo que morir luchando por ella, eso lo voy a hacer. TENOCH: Eso! GEORGE: Es que nos necesitamos el uno al otro. TENOCH: Eso...no esta nada bien. Ahi esta el problema. GEORGE: Porque? Porque lo dices? TENOCH: Pues tu estas pensando en una relacion donde se necesiten mutuamente. Y no te has puesto a pensar que a lo major ella lo necesita, pues es mas libertad, no depender tanto de ti? (George looks very thoughtful, considering.)

MARGA: Mira no mas que hermosa te ves. Ay m'hija, no sabes lo que me duele ver que esa sonrisa no alcanza, para ni a iluminarte los ojos. CARMEN: Ma' neta, no. MARGA: Si, m'hija, pos si todavia estas a tiempo de no casarte. CARMEN: Pero, por que? Yo lo amo, amo a George. Ademas, si no me caso, me tengo que ir de aqui. MARGA: Pos te puedes quedar de "mojada", como lo hace tanto mexicano. CARMEN: No, yo no, porque la migra me trae entre ceja y ceja. Y me estan busca y busca y me van a encontrar. Me puedes apoyar? MARGA: Pues si, m'hija, pero casarse asi, a toda prisa? Por que no esperas el momento correcto? CARMEN: Pues, porque este es mi momento. O sea, si entiendo que estamos haciendo las cosas muy rapido y que los papeles y que...pero realmente estoy contenta con George, lo amo y estoy feliz porque me voy a casar. Y yo necesito que tu tambien estes feliz, y que me apoyes en este momento, lo puedes hacer? (she grins beguilingly) Mother and daughter embrace.

(Carmen's hair is done in front in sort of French braid, loose behind, interspersed with tiny white flowers. White lace gown with plunging "v" neck has "modesty piece" that matches her brown skin. Not sure if was added to original design; may be one Marga had called something that sounded to me like "rasgaucho" when she was shown picture by Yuli and Carmen shopping for wedding dress on phone, said they should keep looking.)

At Orbit Studio meeting with Kurt, Tania and Andy, Clio states her conditions for acepting Carmen as her voice double: singer must become what sounds like "unperson" in George Orwell novel 1984 (described on Wikipedia entry as: "Those who fall out of favour with the Party become "unpersons", disappearing with all evidence of their existence destroyed.") CLIO: No puede tener redes sociales. No a pueda fotografiar para ninguna revista, ningun periodico. No la pueden ver en publico. Basicamente, las personas que la conocen tendran que olvidarse de Carmen, porque va a vivir bajo me sombra. KURT: Hacemos lo posible. CLIO: Y hasta la imposible, si es necesario. Either that or I'll quit.

After Kurt and CLio leave--perhaps to drink champagne (bubbles), Tania warns Andy to tell Carmen that she has a job and doesn't need to marry to get her visa. Camera angle emphasizes grid of ceiling lights which are symbolic opposite of living natural things like flowers. At Cruz home, cloud-shaped light fictures are also emphasized by placement of cameras.

JUANCHO and Aurelio are walking along street lined with trees in islolated area, trying to get signal on cell phone (Leti dressed in orange at wedding fumes he's not answering his phone; twins are wearing lavender. Tommy looks "blind" with those circular mirroed glasses again). Juancho is conflicted about spoiling wedding of his niece, "la luz de mis ojos" but Aurelio counsels that he's doing it to help her, as El Perrote warns that if debt isn't paid, whole family will suffer: "Que prefiere? Que no se case or que la maten?" JUANCHO: Esta bien solito aqui, no, Aurelio? Como que no hay ni un alma. Just as Aurelio is talking about being expert kidnappers and that soon they will have "todo lo que queremos", motocycle pulls up with two of Perrote's thugs who take money Leti had given them.

George greets and directs journalists sent to cover wedding. Next in reception line is US Citizenshop and Immigration officer Jacob Kline who introduces himself (wears white shirt with black grid design; he speaks Spanish with strong American English accent): Mr. Cruz, espero no haber llegado en mal momento. MARIA (happily): No se preocupe, Mister, el bodorrio no ha empezado. AGENT: Bo...bodriro? MARIA: Bodorio, boda, casorio, arrejunta legal. (George looks anxiously alert.) AGENT: Boda? Su boda con la Senorita Jurado? That was quick. GEORGE: Yeah, pero como usted entiende, la vida es ahorita. "Love doesn't wait". AGENT: Pues, realmente lamento incomodar, pero necesito hablar con usted y con la Senorita Jurado. Now.

GEORGE: Esto no podria esperar? Esta a punto de casarnos. AGENT: Me temo que no, sir. Recibimos una demanda en la que se afirma que este matrimonio es un fraude inimigratorio. GEORGE: Oh my god, no. O sea, nosotros nos estamos casando por amor. Carmen y yo tenemos una relacion desde hace meses. Nos amamos. AGENT: Really. GEORGE: Yeah. AGENT: Segun mi informacion, la senorita Jurado cancelo su compromiso publicamente. GEORGE: Well, yeah. That's true pero, bueno, ya sabe como son las mujeres. Y bueno, hay pleitos entre enamorados.

To provide a reason to investigating Immigration agent on why Carmen changed her mind to go thru with wedding after so publically calling it off, George confidingly tells in him in English "she can sometimes be a bit of a 'bridezilla" (not that he really thinks she is, but because it's concept which is widely accepted) which refers to famous rampaging MOVIE monster Godzilla--Spanish subtitles change to "mandona" and "histerica"--a word which much later in story draws reprimand from Tania when it's used belittlingly by male studio executive; originally meant "wandering womb" which is technically impossible and chauvinist machisto "reasoning. Wikipedia article on "Female hysteria" cites descriptions by male writers dating back to Ancient Egypt and Greece of "abnormal" female behavior which is now considered normal.)

I think most viewers would be familiar with expression Bridezilla and/or Godzilla. As Professor Leslie Bary points out in her essay analyzing telenovela CORAZON SALVAJE http://www.henciclopedia.org.uy/autores/Bary/Corazonsalvaje.htm

we live in a GLOBAL culture--and those remarks were made before many people had internet connection (world wide web) in their pocket or purse. Much more widely applicable is another expression described in https://www.theodysseyonline.com/dad-bod and https://www.gq.com/story/dad-bod  "Dad-bod" is mentioned in 2022 animated movie HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA:  Transformania (franchise that's like mashup of TV shows THE MUNSTERS and THE ADDAMS FAMILY (Paz refers to the later when expressing her resentment of the Jurado family as her dad drives her home from Tenoch's restaurant after "the chilaquiles incident").

Not having any money left, Juancho and Aurelio start walking back to Beverly Hills. Suddenly police vehicle sounds siren; they try to hide. Police officer with shaved head (sin pelo/pelon): Hey, what are you guys doing? Hey, come out. I can see you. Your'e not even hiding good. Come out. What's going on? JUANCHO: Hello. Yo Juancho. We are caminand-ing, caminand-ing tranquilos. OFFICER sees bruise on Juancho's face: Estas bien? Que paso aqui? (touches his own lip.) JUANCHO: Ay, se llama bigote. OFFICER: No, eso. JUANCHO: Es, eh, barba. (Red light on top of police vehicle colors his face)

OFFICER: Estas lastimado. Necesitas ayuda? JUANCHO: No. Ayer torpe, pum pum, en ingles "punch". Pero yo solito, eh. No problem. OFFICER: Entiendo, entiendo. Pues, a donde van? JUANCHO: A la montana. Yo hablo ingles. No te preocupes. Grandes montanas. Hills. AURELIO: Beverly Hills. OFFICER: Esto esta MUY lejos. Yo les llevo. JUANCHO: No. Nosotros caminamos. OFFICER: Mira, podemos platicar el espanol. JUANCHO: Yo ahi no me sube, guero. Como creas. OFFICER: Les gusta caminar or que? JUANCHO: Si, estas botas son especiales. OFFICER: Mira, son diez horas de aqui a Beverly Hills. JUANCHO: Que?!

AURELIO: No, compalle. Yo tengo hambre. Yo si me voy a subir. Vamonos. OFFICER: Vamos. Practicamos espanol. JUANCHO: Pero solo te enseno espanol, eh? Na' mas asi. Nada de esposas, nada raro. Conste. (So it turns out the feared police are actually friendly and helpful, another example of misunderstanding.)

At wedding, Aristides uses purple comb for his moustache, at least 2nd time in Ep. that attention is drawn to a bijote.  Native speakers of Spanish may perceive possible significance.  BIG RED BOOK OF SPANISH IDIOMS lists some, including "tener bigote o tres pares de bigotes" = "to stick to one's guns, to stick to one's decision, to ber very difficult or complicated or tricky". 

Andy is reflected in window when going to talk with Carmen before she joins George in front of Judge and wedding guests. Since no one in her family can give her away at ceremoney because they are in hiding as illegal imigrants, she asks if he could do so. ANDY: Mira, antes de eso...te tengo que decir algo. He tells her Clio accepted her as double, so Carmen now has job which will get her a visa. ANDY: Asi ya no tienes por que casarte por compromiso, gastar un momento tan importante de tu vida en esto. Cundo te cases, va poder a ser por amor de verdad. CARMEN: Es que yo si me estoy casando por amor.

JUDGE: Los declaro marido y mujer. JURADO FAMILY in hiding?: Que se besan! Que se besan! GEORGE (he can't be heard by anyone but Carmen because of guests clapping): Te puedo besar? CARMEN kisses him, they embrace.

Andy is drinking before other guests go for refreshments. He phones Tania that her plan failed; either Carmen didn't understand or care that job would get her visa without marrying George--and that because the house is full of journalists, "todo Los Angeles va a saber de la boda del momento entre George Cruz y Carmen Jurado, el cuento de hadas de Hollywood. Tania is enraged: Clio nos va a matar. Y tu papa es un estupido. Por complirle el sueno Americano a la tipeja esa, EL va a perder su verdadero sueno, que es hacer esta pelicula. (But she doesn't understand movie was inspired by his real love for Carmen, the only thing important to him.)

GEORGE: Perdon, Carmen. CARMEN: Porque? Que paso? GEORGE: Pues, por lo del beso. No quiero que pienses que me estaba aprovechando, de verdad. CARMEN: No, tu sabes perfecto que fue de aqui, fue de corazon. GEORGE: Si si, pero hay algo mas que quiera decirte. CARMEN: No. Ya no me digas nada, por favor. Vivamos el momento. GEORGE: Nena, hay un agente...

AGENT: Miss Jurado. CARMEN: Hola. (to George) Es tu amigo? GEORGE: No mi amor. Es el agente Cline de Inmigracion....Este, si quiere hablar aqui here in the family room? AGENT: Gracias, Mr Cruz, pero primero quiero hablar a sola con su esposa. GEORGE: Eh, es absolutamente necesario? Es que hoy es nuestra dia de bodas y...CARMEN: No, tranquilo. Calma. Yo me encargo. Es rapido. Verdad, poli? (short for police) No me tardo, si? Tranquilo. (quickly kisses George) Todo va a estar bien. Venga. Pase por aqui.

TENOCH: Que rico se ve. MARGA: Mas respeto. TENOCH: Que? Yo me referia a la comida. Aunque, tambien aplica pa' usted. MARGA (repressively): Ya estuvo bueno, eh? TENOCH: Estuviste llorando, senora bonita. MARGA: Pos es que mi me a habria gustado que la Carmen casera por otro motivo porque yo siento que no he siendo fiel a su corazon. Y eso me rompe el mio. TENOCH: Pues yo pienso que a veces se puede empezar al revers, no? O sea, como que el amor puede encontrar su camino, pues en otras circunstancias ...No mas ahi se lo dejo pa'que, pos yo tambien soy ciudano americano. MARGA: Y eso que pa' que me dice eso? Esta quierendo insinuar que yo me casa con usted? Yo no soy de esas. TENOCH: A ver, vamos a regresamos tantito, por que lo unico que yo quiee es alegrate el dia. MARGA: Pues ya se equivoco fijese. Ya se equivoco. (she leaves kitchen) TENOCH touches pot on stove: Como pica. Pero como me gusta.

Pedro goes to see if he can help Paz, who he noticed looked sad at her father's wedding. Mixed-up girl doesn't know what to think about what's happening with her parents. Her confusion makes her give mixed messages to straight forward young man with good, caring heart: "Quien te entiende. Me estas diciendo "vete" y luego "quedate" y luego "Obedeceme". Entonces que hago?"

Waiting in his study, George feels woman's hands over his eyes. He turns, saying: Como te fue, nena? (It's not Carmen, but "the Spider Woman" who spins a web of lies, or like being trapped in house of mirrors warping, twisting the truth) LETI: Lamento decepcionarte, pero no, no soy tu nena. Solo venia a felicitarle. GEORGE: Gracias, Leticia. LETI: Debes amar mucho a Carmen, George, para haber hecho todo lo que hiciste. GEORGE: A que te refieres? LETI: Pues a casarte por conveniencia. Pero, bueno, que puedo decir yo, no? Eso es el verdadero amor. Pero sabiendo que podias ir a prision, hum, una locura que probablemente, yo por ti tambien podria hubera hecho. GEORGE: Yo no se de que estas hablando. O sea, de donde sacas esa tonteria?

LETI: George, no quieras desimular conmigo. Te conosco muy bien. A ella lo conosco poco, pero me he dado cuenta de que es una muer muy...orgullosa. Deja su relacion en frente de la prensa, y de repente de la nada toma otra decision. Eso tiene que tener una razon de peso. Por ejemplo, que no la deportaran. GEORGE: No nos casmos por eso. LETI: No te procupes. Tu secreto de ese falso matrimonio esta segura conmigo. De verdad, creemelo. Pero tienes que saber que si alguien se entera de esto, puedes meterse en muchos problemas. Y es lo que menos quiero que te suceda, George. Yo tambien soy capaz de hacer muchas cosas por amor.

George returns to main house, trying to overhear what Carmen and agent are saying. MARGA rushes over and complains lo GEORGE (whispering): Margarita, baja la voz. MARGA: Que baja la voz, ni que baja le voz! Ustedes los hermanos Cruz se creen muy aca, verdad? Pidiendole al matrimonio por conveniencia a cualquiera, a la primera que pase. Yo nunca, nunca me voy a casar por unos...GEORGE: Shhh. Baja la voz. Tu hija esta adentro. La esta entrevistando un agente de Inmigracion. MARGA: De migra? Que le estan preguntando a mi nina? GEORGE: Es que no se. Justo eso estoy tratando de averiguar. MARGA: Y yo aqui gritando, porque no me callaste? GEORGE: Te dije.

AGENT: Aproveche esta oportunidad que le estamos dando, Miss Jurado. Un matrimonio ilegal tiene consecuencias serias. En un caso de ser una ciudano extranjero como usted, puede acarrear una pena hasta cinco anos, multa de 250 mil dolares y deportacion inmediata. CARMEN: Perdon, poli, me esta usted acusando directamente de algo? AGENT: Le estoy dando una oportunidad. Esta es una carta en donde pide usted perdon al gobierno norte Americano. De esa forma obtendria un indulto y solo tendria que abandonar el pais sin mas consecuencias legales. Pero para eso debe admitir que su matrimonio es una mentira.

Que dice Carmen? Va a tomar la oportunidad que le estoy dando? O prefiere que siga con la investigacion? Espero su repuesta, Miss Jurado. Quiere que empiece el tramite del indulto?

CARMEN: No no no. Bueno, vamos a empezar por que pos, mi matrimonio es por amor, eh? O sea, usted no sabe lo que hay aqui en mi corazon. Yo SI amo a George, hum? O sea, que aqui nadie se mete, solo se yo, si? Dos, la chamba. Voy a ser la voz de Clio en una onda musical. AGENT: Tengo entendido en los medios que usted renuncio. Yo mismo vi los declaraciones. CARMEN: Si si, renucie, en su momento. Si, pero ahorita se esta cocinando algo, hm? Voy a ser yo la voz de Clio, y pues ahora si que si necesitan mi voz, pues estan a mi. Pues es yo chamba tengo. Entonces, voy a tener. AGENT: Bueno, pues me alegro de que eso sea asi. De igual forma, tendre que acudir a la estudio acorrobar esta nueva informacion. CARMEN: Pero, claro, poli, sientase con la confianza, pues usted ahi nos vamos a ver. De verdad.

MARGA: Pos que tanto estan hablando ahi? No estara echando los perros? Porque mi hija esta muy bonita. Porque esos senores nunca se sabe lo que es...(Carmen and agent go over to George and Marga, who pretends she is servant: Ah si, Don George, en unos segundos le traigo su Chocomilk. CARMEN: Chocomilk? (Might this refer to "dicho"--quoted in Episode 2: "Familia"--which Carmen tells George is how she feels about him (champurrado contains chocolate and milk) meaning that just being by his side, simple things are wonderful: "Contigo milpa es rancho, y atole champurrado"

GEORGE: Uh, how did it go? AGENT: Todo bien. Todo en orden. Solo es rutina. La felicito su matrimonio. Le deseo lo mejor en su nuevo trabajo. GEORGE: Trabajo, mi amor? CARMEN laughs artificially at length: Es que no le habia contando. (to agent) Ya me adelantaste, gringo, eh? es que no ha contaba de la chamba. (to George) O es que te daba el "si" or que te contaba de la chamba. Ahorita te cuento bien de la...Ahorita te cuento. (to agent as if he was invited guest) Gracias por haber venido. Muchas gracias por su tiempo el dia de hoy. AGENT: Un placer. Con seguridad nos veremos pronto en el estudio cuando vaya confirmar que usted esta contratada. CARMEN: Con seguridad. Nos vemos ahi. AGENT: Permiso. CARMEN: Proprio. GEORGE: Have a good day.

Tania (in purple skirt alluding to her bruised heart, white blouse) has also been getting drunk like Andy after news that George and Carmen are now married. She angrily expresses her feelings in writing an email to George: "Eres el mas grande imbecil que has pisado esa tierra. Y sin embargo, siempre te voy a amar". No no ...(does she delete previous part?) Te escribo...desde la decepcion de saber que preferiste casarte con una tipeja como Carmen, mientras yo siempre te he amade en silencio. Ay que horror. En estos anos he visto como te desperdiciaste tu vida con la insipdia, incolora, inordora de Leticia. (Sounds like chemistry class description of water: "tasteless, colorless, odorless".)

KURT bursts into her office demanding : Que fregados es esto? Tania jumps, accidently sends email she never intended for George to actually read. TANIA: No no no no! Por favor no, por favor no. KURT: Que te pasa?! TANIA: Un mensaje que no debia enviarse...y se envio. KURT: Are you serious? Semejante escandolo cuando deberias hacer tu trabajo! Mira. See that? (shows her coverage of wedding) Lo primero que exigio Clio, y fue lo primero qe olvidaste, no? Porque hay prensa en la boda de Carmen y George! TANIA: Kurt, respira. Tranquilo. KURT: No, tu respira. Eso es un disastre! Yo tengo que hablar con Clio. TANIA (offers her bottle of liquor): Quieres uno? KURT: No! TANIA (mildly resigned): Bueno.

Roco and Robert overhear ARISTIDES having very suspicious phone conversation (tho his tone is lighter than one might expect from apparent subject matter: Entonces va a ser como la vez pasada. No. Es que no quiero dejar un reguero de sangre por todas partes. ROCO whispers: Quiere matar a Maria. ARISTIDES: No. Hay que afilar el chuchillo. Pues si. Es lo minimo, no? ROCO: Vamos a llamar a la policia. Este es nuestra mision. La vida de Maria esta en nuestros manos.

GEORGE: Entonces volvieron a darle el papel en la pelicula? Oh my God, que bueno noticia. A fin abrieran los ojos y se dieron cuenta que ese papel es para ti, lo escribi para ti. Aunque...si ya sabias lo del trabajo, por que seguis adelante con la boda? (Carmen looks at him tenderly) Los hiciste porque me amas, verdad? CARMEN: Obvio. GEORGE: No detuviste la boda a pesar de saber que tenias resueltos tus papeles y que tienes trabajo. (Carmen smiles happily, touches his cheek).

Then Andy fills newlyweds in on latest probable turn of events: Tenia trabajo. Lamentablemente, yo creo que el regreso de Carmen a la pelicula ya no vas suceder. He explains that one of Clio's conditions was "que Carmen no podia salir en la prensa...Estoy segura que manana, su boda va a ser "trending topic". George declares: Esas condiciones de Clio son ridiculas. CARMEN: O sea, si son ridiculos, pero pues me va a tocar aceptarlas. GEORGE: No no no, de ninguna manera. Yo no voy a permitir que aceptes semejante locura. CARMEN: Es que yo no TE estoy preguntando. No se trata de que permitas o no. Es una decision mia. Es mi chamba.

Another cliff hanger for next episode:  Will Tania try to hack George's account to delete her drunken email?  Lucky for her, he's distracted by his plans to win back Carmen's love (not being like his kids, almost surgically attached to electronic devices.  See YA novel FEED by M.T. Anderson where that's literally true; book's character Violet seems inspired by Clarisse in classic Ray Bradbury novel, FARENHEIT 451, also perhaps VIOLET &  CLARE by Los Angeles author Francesca Lia Block, who invited me to one of her early author readings in Hollywood.

Like Juancho, Ray Bradbury was almost arrested for walking in Los Angeles (behavior considered odd in city shaped by freeways--famous song by band MISSING PERSONS "Walking in LA" includes chorus "only a nobody walks in LA".  Bradbury came by where I worked--he was big supporter of libraries & independent bookstores such as Acres of Books (seen in movie THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB).  Filming takes place all over Los Angeles--places near where I worked, shopped & lived appear in Oscar winning movie musical LA LA LAND.     

On subject of books, another novel I can imagine featuring Guy is LAST BUS TO WISDOM by Ivan Doig, main character of German man who has been secretly living illegally in USA after escaping Hitler--and is big a fan of Western advenure novels.  In online interview October 26, 2021 (Telemundo tie-in to premiere of PALF that evening) Guy said he's long wanted to make a Western.  Story is told from viewpoint of boy (tho meant for adult readers) who unofficially adopts/is adobted by the mysterious man.  Wonder if Guy's youngest son might ever act with him, like Ryan O'Neal did with little daughter Tatum in movie PAPER MOON?  Though "On the Road" book I still prefer is by award-winning author Lynne Rae Perkins, AS EASY AS FALLING OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH--so much fun!
